About Us

Exceed Reading Stars, a youth-led non-profit organisation, strives to narrow the disparity between a child's age and their reading proficiency.

Established in June 2020, amidst the ongoing strain on the UK's education system due to the pandemic, we began working with children who struggle to engage in reading or have a lower reading age than their actual age

Focused on children from disadvantaged backgrounds in Lambeth and neighbouring boroughs, we address socio-economic challenges, generational unemployment, and limited educational access. Operating within primary and secondary schools, communities, and local libraries, we run various educational projects and intensive holiday programmes

Additionally, we offer Youth Social Participation and

Engagement Programs for students aged 16-25,

providing work experience, employment opportunities, and comprehensive training.

What we offer

Colorful Books

ABC Achieving Beyond Capabilities

Achieving Beyond Capabilities is designed to address the decreasing educational attainment in literacy among BAME children from disadvantaged communities. We aim to bridge the gap between reading age and actual age by building their confidence and self-esteem, whilst also stimulating their social and personal skills.

Holiday Programmes

Children and young people will explore beyond classroom settings and learn through youth-led engagement sessions where children and young people will participate and engage in a range of activities for example sports, arts & crafts, creative writing, storytelling, and games.

Did you know?

"England has one of the lowest literacy rates in the developed world. 43% of British adults cannot read well enough to understand basic health information. Illiteracy on this scale has a serious impact on our society, reducing life expectancy in affected communities and the competitiveness of our economy."

Help us change the lives of our future generation!
